Emotional Wellbeing  Coaching for Schools

Illustration representing emotional wellbeing coaching helping children navigate challenges and grow in confidence at school

Helping children feel better equipped to navigate the things they find difficult.

Schools see first-hand how worries, low confidence, friendship difficulties and big emotions can affect a child — not only emotionally, but in their relationships, behaviour and experience of school.

I provide one-to-one emotional wellbeing coaching for primary and secondary aged children in Mid Sussex, giving them dedicated time and space to explore what’s happening for them, better understand their thoughts and feelings, and develop their own ways of moving forward.

Coaching can take place within the school day, working alongside the support already provided by your team.

How coaching can support children in school

Children don’t always have the words to explain what’s happening for them. Sometimes this shows up as worry or withdrawal; sometimes as frustration, changes in behaviour, difficulties with friendships or a loss of confidence.

Having regular one-to-one time outside their immediate classroom environment can give a child space to slow things down, explore what’s happening and begin to make sense of what they’re experiencing.

Coaching may be helpful for children who are:

What coaching looks like in school

Coaching is child-centred and neuroinclusive, giving each child space to explore what’s happening for them while keeping the important adults around them appropriately involved.

Shaped around each child

There isn’t a set programme or one-size-fits-all approach. Sessions are one-to-one and shaped around each child’s age, personality, communication style and what feels most helpful for them.

Finding their way forward

Children have an active voice throughout. Rather than being given solutions, they’re supported to develop greater self-awareness, recognise their own strengths and resources, and build confidence in their ability to navigate challenges.

A space to explore

Some children want to talk, while others express themselves more easily through drawing, games or creative activities. I use a range of age-appropriate coaching tools to help children explore their thoughts and feelings, recognise their strengths and discover strategies that work for them.

Working together

I work collaboratively with schools and parents so that children feel supported beyond their coaching sessions. This includes appropriate high-level feedback to school, and updates and ideas for parents.
